She said: “It’s definitely been a rollercoaster… I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it’s been incredibly taxing for many of us – especially those of us who struggled before.

“I’m an introvert by nature which means I don’t mind being on my own and not really going out a lot, but the notion that it’s been chosen for me, it can be really isolating.”

Mayim added: “My temper’s been short, my sleep’s been weird, I started getting heartburn again… all this stressing.

“I was talking with a girlfriend and even my lady cycle has felt more emotional during the quarantine. Everything is heightened.

“My mum has a pinched nerve in her back and she’s never had that before and I said, it’s because we’re all stressed, we’re living in masks, we don’t know what tomorrow brings, the news is insane, the country is falling apart it feels like.”

Mayim – who played the role of neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler in the long-running sitcom for over nine years – recently revealed she doesn’t watch episodes of the hit show.

Mayim revealed in an interview with the Metro: “I’ve never seen most of the episodes.

“I don’t watch myself on television,” she explained. “I’ve never sat and watched an episode of our show, ever.”

Mayim went on: “I’ve seen snippets on stage when they would show them to the audience but no, I don’t watch myself.

“I saw pieces [of the last episode] but I was in it, you know?”

The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons after its airing in September 2007.

It came to an end in May last year after Sheldon Cooper actor Jim Parson decided to quit the popular show.

Mayim joined the cast during season three as Sheldon’s awkward love interest.
